In this, article we will discuss about the usage of mobile phones during exam preparation.

As the exams approach, we all start setting up some ground rules. Don’t we?

  • I will study for 12 hours a day.
  • I will not use the phone for next 1 month.
  • TV Series and Movies, bye-bye.
  • Oh, the time I will productively utilise!
  • Oh, the sleep I will sacrifice!

But how many of them do we follow?

So what exactly can we do? That’s what we’re going to discuss here today. We will tell you what is our take on the usage of mobile phones during exam preparation.

Is Using A Phone Bad Thing?

Well, let’s say that depends upon the usage. If we use it properly, it’s not a that bad thing after all.

Now, What’s A Good Usage?

We can’t find an exact definition for that. Can we? No. But let’s just say a good usage of cell phones might be the one that helps us improve our studies. It might be the one that gives us peace of mind for a moment. Now you’ll say, “PUBG also gives peace of mind, sis.” I know. But we’re talking about discipline here. Think of the times when we did not have so many facilities. People survived that, too. Right? Don’t give up everything. But do everything in moderation. “Humaara toh moderation mein 3-4 ghanta Insta scroll karne mein hi nikal jaata hai.” Well, that’s gotta change.

What Exactly Are We Suggesting?

Well, we are suggesting discipline. Again discipline? What are we, in Kindergarten? For acing CA exams, that’s what we’re gonna have to do.

We prepare timetables to study, right? Similarly, we prepare mobile phone timetables. We need to beat Monica Geller in being the control freak here.

Just for a few months, no social media apps, no texts, no calls. YouTube? Access it via your parents’ cell phones. A study buddy who helps via calls and texts? Well, set a time frame for that, too. Suppose once or twice a week, discussing all the doubts you have. If we see, it’s not that difficult. These few months are going to be very tiring. We need to get through this.

What’s The Whole Point, Anyway?

The point is that good manners & discipline is what that’s going to help us all in the long run. Pick up life stories of any great person. They were all disciplined. Our favourite successful celebrities have performed discipline over the years. Success isn’t achieved in a day, It takes time and patience.

What About Our Entertainment?

Yes. Yes, I know. We’re all humans. We all need some relaxation unless some of us are vampires. It is not at all our purpose to turn ourselves into Jack. “Jack from downstairs?” No. “Jack and the beanstalk?” No. We’re talking about ‘All work & no play makes Jack a dull boy’ “Ah! The other Jack!” Yes.

There are a lot of ways to find peace other than using cell phones.

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Drawing
  • Listening to music
  • Playing a musical instrument
  • Singing
  • Dancing
  • Cooking
  • Baking
  • Indulging in a physical sport
  • Exercising
  • Yoga
  • Meditation
  • Journaling/Diary-writing

Final Thoughts

Finally, we all know no matter how motivated we get for a moment; we will do what we want to do. It’s our call after all. It’s us who are finally going to decide whether we see “Pass” or “Fail” written on a pink line. None of these are hard and fast rules. Nobody said if we follow this, we’ll pass if we don’t, we don’t. No. That’s not how it works. It comes from within. We have to decide whether to go “Jingle bells jingle bells” whole day long or to celebrate for a moment and jump back to studies.

No matter how naughty our siblings are, no matter how irritating our relatives are, even with a disturbing roommate and a psychotically obsessed lover, if WE want, we can break through all these shackles and study. It’s totally up to us. We and only we can make or wreck our future. So, let’s pull our socks and get back to studies. Shall we?
